A short tale about the Dutch Willemstad

Willemstad is a Dutch Caribbean island, and also the capital city of Curaçao. It is said, the island has been named by Portuguese sailors. Suffering from scurvy, some sailors were left behind on the island. When healed by the local fruits from their illnesses, they could rejoin their crew. From then on the Portuguese sailors called it Ilha da Curação, which translates to Island of healing.

Willemstad, Curaçao today

In addition the waterfront has an overwhelming variety of restaurant and shops. Hence it is an exclusive experience for the culinary connoisseurs of the Caribbean cuisine.
Because the island is just outside the hurricane belt and has suitable shores, it also makes it an ideal destination for scuba divers.
